The thyroid is responsible for the production of important hormones, thyroxine (T4), and triiodothyronine (T3) which in turn stimulates the production of additional hormones throughout the body. This process requires the absorption of trace mineral iodine and amino acid l-tyrosine from the bloodstream. Supplementing with iodine can support the thyroid to work more efficiently. The addition of zinc, copper, selenium, vitamin A, and the botanical guggulipid activate enzymes that enhance the conversion of T4 into active thyroid hormone T3. Vitamin A and zinc also help improve cellular sensitivity to thyroid hormones.
